Tips to Know

  • You don’t have to use just green cabbage. Red cabbage works and tastes just as great.
  • If you want to use the whole cabbage double the butter, add an extra teaspoon of Toni’s Cajun Seasoning, and an extra tablespoon of red wine vinegar.
  • If you want to add bacon and onions chop up both in small pieces and add them to the pan first. Cook until the bacon is cooked and omit the butter because the bacon grease will be a substitute.
  • Only cooking the cabbage for 15 minutes gives it a tender, but still a slightly crunch taste. You can cook longer for a lot more tender texture, but don’t cook too long or it becomes mushy.
  • If you want to cut some of the time out and make this super easy you can buy pre-cut cabbage in the produce department.
  • If you want to make this recipe a little healthier omit the butter. Instead spray the cabbage with cooking spray and you will save on the calories.
