Easy Crostini

Sharing is caring!

This Easy Crostini recipe is so simple and the perfect addition to your party appetizer selection which pairs perfect with brushetta.

What is a Crostini?

Basically a crostini is a thin slice of bread that is seasoned with olive oil and salt and then toasted. Usually accompanied with a brushetta or some other form of topping

What bread do I use for Crostini?

Typically french baguette bread is use. But you can also use french bread, ciabatta or even sour dough

How to store Crostini

You can store this in an air tight container for 3 days after preparing. So making ahead of time is a great option. If they do seem like they have lost any of there crisp, just pop them back in the oven at 400 degrees for a few minutes

What to put on top of your Crostini

  • Brushetta- Crostini are basically made for brushetta. This Pepperoni Brushetta goes great on top of crostini
  • Dips- Crostini are great for dipping. This Mediterranean Dip and Love Dip are the perfect dips for these
  • Tapenade- one of my favorites, Olive Tapenade is an easy recipe of olives, feta, capers, and oil

Variations

  • Use butter instead of olive oil for that buttery taste
  • Try using flavored oil such as Truffle or garlic olive oil
  • Add some garlic salt, Italian seasonings and a little grated Parmesan cheese for a garlic bread flavor

Ingredients for Easy Crostini:

  • Baguette Bread– preferably day old bread
  • Olive oil– I use extra light, but any olive oil will do
  • Coarse Salt– I use Himalayan pink salt in most of my recipes, but any course salt works for this recipe

Cutting the Bread

Start by taking a large cutting board and your baguette bread (Photo 1) Take a sharp bread knife and cut off the end of the bread and start making 1/4 inch slices (Photo 2)

Once all the bread is sliced (Photo 3) set it aside

Take a large sheet pan (Photo 4) and start putting down your sliced baguette bread (Photo 5) until all the bread is put down (Photo 6)

Take your olive oil (Photo 7) and brush it on each slice of bread (Photo 8) Then take the coarse salt (Photo 9) and sprinkle it over the bread (Photo 10)

Flip each slice over (Photo 11) and brush with oil (Photo 12) and sprinkle with salt (Photo) Put the sheet pan of bread (Photo 14) in the oven for 7 minutes. Take out and flip each piece and put back in the oven for another 7 minutes until you have a nice golden color.

Tips for Easy Crostini:

  • Day old bread works the best, but using day of bread works too
  • If you want longer slices, slice them at an angel
  • Use coarse salt instead of regular table salt
  • For even toasting flip the bread half way through cooking
  • Keep an eye on it when it gets close to the end cook time to not over cook
  • Store in an air tight container for up to 3 days
