These cheesy pigs in a
blanket are a quick
and easy recipe you
can make for your
next party or even for
Saturday morning
breakfast.

cheesy pigs in a blanket

As crazy as it sounds this family is a connoisseur of pigs in a blanket. When we moved to our new house we drove to all of the local donut shops to find the perfect pigs in a blanket.

After going to many donut shops none compared to the shop by our old house. Now sometimes I don’t mind taking the 20 minute one way drive to go get those, but other times I’m not feeling it.

That’s why it’s just easier sometimes for me to cook them right at home. Who really wants to load up the baby and all her gear and drive across town and back.

If you have kept up with my posts I am a lover of CHEESE. You can never have enough cheese in my opinion. That’s the one thing that is missing from those donut shop pigs in a blanket.

Where’s the cheese? Of course there is a little inside the sausage, but not near enough for me. That’s where this recipe came about.

I have made these with all different types of cheeses and Velveeta is by far the cheesiest and tastiest cheese for these. Plus you don’t even need a lot of it. I keep a block of Velveeta vacuum sealed in my refrigerator because unless I’m making queso for a crowd I never use a whole big block.

The only other things you need are a pack of cheddar lil’ smokies and a can of croissant dough. I don’t prefer my pigs in the blanket with a ton of bread on them. If you do grab another can of croissant dough because one won’t be enough for you.

I roll out my dough and use a glass to roll the dough back together as one piece instead of the pre cut pieces. Now you need to cut 35 pieces in a long triangle shape. Just like the pre cut shape but a LOT smaller.

As far as the cheese goes just cut a little piece off that is about as long as the lil’ smokie and a couple centimeters thick. Lay the cheese down on the fat end of the dough and then the lil’ smokie on top and it roll up.

Now repeat 34 more times. Grease a baking pan and lay out your smokies. Cook around 11-13 minutes. Just watch for that golden crust. These are best served hot.
