I love carbs! I mean who doesn’t. My weight doesn’t love them, but sometimes you’ve just got to have them. What goes well with carbs? Cheese. Yep, my other love. If I could eat cheese for every meal, I would. So melted cheese on top of french bread is like a slice of heaven.  That’s why this pesto garlic cheesy bread is just the right amount of YUM!

My husband and I have a favorite Italian restaurant that is just some little hole in the wall. They by far have the best garlic cheese bread you have ever had. I feel guilty almost every time after we eat it, but there is no way I can not order it when we go there.

This recipe is a little twist on the classic garlic cheese bread. I previously posted a recipe for creamy pesto gnocchi in which I gave a recipe for fresh basil pesto. I used that same recipe for the basil pesto for this recipe. If you don’t have time to make your own pesto, store bought will work just the same.

You wan to cut your french bread in half long ways. I used a bread knife for a clean cut. First spread your butter on your bread. Sprinkle the garlic salt evenly on both halves. Then spread out your pesto.

I like to take blocks of cheeses and grate them myself for that fresh cheese taste. Packaged shredded cheese is an easy substituted if you need to speed up the process. Most cheese bread recipes call for just mozzarella, but I like to mix in some provolone cheese because it’s one of my favorite.

Just put in the oven for 8 minutes and then turn on the oven to a low broil and cook until the top of the cheese is turning light brown.

I like to pull mine out of the oven to serve immanently so the cheese is still nice and gooey for my whole meal. Cut into easy to eat slices.
