Variations for Creamy Cajun Chicken Linguine

  • Swap out the chicken for shrimp: If you love seafood, you can use shrimp instead of chicken. Simply cook the shrimp in some oil until it turns pink, then add it to the pasta and sauce as directed.
  • Try using zucchini noodles: To make the dish healthier and lower in carbs, you can replace the linguine with zucchini noodles. Use a spiralizer to make the noodles, then sauté them in a bit of oil before adding them to the sauce.
  • Use Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream: If you want to lighten up the dish, you can substitute the heavy cream with Greek yogurt. Add 1 cup of Greek yogurt to the sauce at the end of cooking to give it a creamy texture.
  • Use whole wheat pasta: To add more fiber and nutrients to the dish, you can use whole wheat pasta instead of regular pasta.
  • Add some veggies to the dish: Get nutrients by sautéing some spinach and diced bell peppers with the chicken.
  • Use cauliflower puree instead of heavy cream: To make the sauce healthier you can use cauliflower puree instead of heavy cream. Steam a head of cauliflower, blend it until smooth, then add it to the skillet with the other sauce ingredients.

Ingredients for Creamy Cajun Chicken Linguine

  • Linguine pasta: This type of pasta will serve as the base of the dish, but you can use any pasta you like
  • Chicken breast: the star of the dish.
  • Cajun seasoning: This flavorful spice blend will give your dish a bold and spicy flavor, use your favorite kind
  • Heavy whipping cream: This ingredient will make the sauce thick and creamy, adding a touch of luxury to the dish.
  • Tomatoes: Fresh tomatoes will add a touch of sweetness and acidity to balance out the flavors.
  • Parmesan cheese: Grated parmesan cheese will provide a salty and nutty flavor to the pasta, enhancing the dish’s overall taste.

Tips and Tricks

  • Season the chicken well: When cooking the chicken, make sure to season it with cajun seasoning. This will give it a nice flavor that will help spice up the sauce and pasta.
  • Save some pasta water: When you drain the pasta, make sure to save about 1/2 cup of the cooking water. This starchy water can be added to the sauce later to make it thicker and creamier.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning: Once you add the sauce to the pasta, taste it and see if it needs more salt, pepper, or cajun seasoning. You can always adjust if you like things a little more spicy
  • Use fresh parmesan cheese: Instead of using pre-grated cheese, grate fresh parmesan cheese for a better flavor.
  • Add the tomatoes towards the end: Add the diced tomatoes towards the end of cooking the pasta so they don’t become too soft and mushy. This will keep them fresh and juicy.
  • Garnish with parsley: To add a little bit of color and freshness to the dish, chop up some fresh parsley and sprinkle it on top of the pasta before serving. It will add a nice herbaceous flavor that will complement the cajun seasoning.
